important landmarks and learn interesting facts about each state

a little football

the hawks had an open practice last weekend

so, we went to cheer on our favorite hawks...

#80 and #46

cousins henry and george

go hawks!!!

uncles

we had a little visit from some uncles

my brother, uncle nick, came for a college visit to u of iowa

i am so hoping that smarty pants chooses to be a hawk

and my great uncle bruce from montana also came for a visit--a 2 week one

my mom and my sister and her family were also here

it had been a few years since we'd seen uncle bruce

he's my gram's younger brother

lots of late nights and hours of playing

i just love when everyone is home

good times!

a big project

i said goodbye to my georgous white floor

as well as the yucky green flooring that was in the
kitchen when we bought the house

we bought sanded plywood

with the plan being to paint it a concrete look

after buying all the supplies and thinking way too much about how long it was going to take--i changed my mind

so...i returned all the painting supplies and began the very long and stressful job of choosing a stain color

we filled in nail holes and cracks, sanded the wood filler that filled in the nail holes and cracks, wiped down the floor a couple times and began staining

4 different stain color's and 4 coats of polyurethane later---

the finished project

it wasn't what i was hoping for, but it's growing on me (a little)

still deciding what to do about the vent covers

we'll be adding trim around the baseboards at some point

thankful for a new, clean floor

back at it

riding lessons started back up about a month ago

she looks so confident sitting atop of a horse

it's such a joy to watch her learning new skills

that girl loves her some horses

minnesota

we took a little trip to minnesota to visit the cousins.

pulled the camper and stayed at the best state park we've ever been to.

fun times!

my sis and i even got away for some shopping at my fav store---ikea---and a yummy, relaxing, kid-free lunch!
