first BIG camping adventure

we did it!!

over memorial day weekend we drove north 3 hours to bellevue state park and camped from thursday--monday.

we had an absolute blast!
i was totally excited but also had some "this is gonna be a long 5 days' feelings.

i planned out every meal and took all the food we would need.
it was fun to think of different "camping" meals.

we took ball gloves, bats, balls, footballs, my grandparent's croquet set, bikes, swimming gear, board games, tons of books and our portable dvd player and dvd's.
we were set!

we took hikes in the mornings which is the photo below.
this is the hike we got lost during--we ended up on that huge hill.

it was supposed to be a 1/2 mile hike but turned into about a 2 mile one.

we brought our phones but left them in the truck.  neither of us made 1 phone call during the 5 days.  since both of us rely on our phones for the time we never knew what time it was which was kinda fun!

the next 4 photos are from the hike when we were lost.
the girls started out thinking it was fun, but as we walked more and more and more they stopped thinking it was funny and grew quite crabby.

when we finally made to the end they just couldn't walk anymore...

this was cozy!

i have a photo just like this one of my sister and i standing in front of the park sign on the only camping trip i ever took with my mom.
it was fun to take one of my kids in front of this park sign.
they thought so too...
they only complained a little.

our fearless driver!!
waiting patiently for me to take the park sign pictures.
he didn't complain at all!

whats a camping trip without some wildlife?
of course she found some!
sam saved this guy's life as he was crawling on a busy road.
and sofie set him free back in the mississippi.

i completely forgot to take a photo of our "home" while we were camping.
so here it half-way is.
we were packing up when i took this.

and of course we met every kid in the campground.
here's a few of them...

this is sarah, a sweet little girl who spent a lot of time with the girls.

glad to have this first big trip under-our-belt.
it was a wonderful time for our family--
no interruptions!!!
that's my favorite part!

we are excitedly planning our next "big" trip.
just picked the dates yesterday!!!
