stuff

busy times, these days

about a month ago lia knocked her front, permanent tooth right out of her mouth.

thank goodness i called the dentist straight away.

they informed me to put the tooth in milk asap.

and then, shove the tooth back into the socket.

our usual dentist was on vacation so after sam shoved that tooth

back into lia's mouth we drove to iowa city to see another dentist.

they were able to "save" the tooth.

she needed a stitch due to the massive cut up her gum.

she was in no pain and absolutely loved the attention she was getting from the 2 dentist's that were working on her whom she would like to have as her new dentist's now.

at one point sam leaned over and asked me if she was drunk--her goofy, push-the-line sense of humor, need to make people laugh was in full-force.

so...we had to follow-up the next week, then 2 weeks later, then a month later and we are now waiting for another week to get her little brace off that's been stabilizing that tooth and fill in the rest of her tooth that cracked off.

these 2 are still doing great!  we have left them home alone twice now--the first for 3 days and the second for 5 days.  smoke seems to like the companionship he even gives her bath's.  little jaz will visit the vet next week to get declawed and spayed.  sofie loves having her own pet to care for!

we took another camping trip 2 weeks ago.

our campsite was perfect, lots of space between campers and plenty of grass around our campsite to play catch.  however, we were bummed when we headed down to the lake for a swim to find that it was totally gross and un-swimable!  the lack of rain in that area really affected the lake water.  we headed to the town pool instead.

garden is doing great!
tomatoes are ripening as i type.
thinking about trying my hand at some sauce canning--i've only ever done salsa.
cucumbers did not do well.
i have only canned 17 pints of dill and 2 qts of bread and butter pickles so far
compared to 51 pints of dill and 22 pints of b&b that i did last year.
just dug my first sweet pot and pot yesterday.
super excited to grill those guys up!
did some blackberry picking again this july.
51 1/2 cups.
116 cups last year.
i coulda picked more--but got lazy.


gearing up for school to start in exactly 2 weeks!
curriculum is here and put away.
school supply list is made.
we will go next week.
kye starts preschool in 3 weeks.
we will also buy supplies for him.
can't believe he will be going to preschool...what a hoot!
