it was a "rattler" kind of day...

Once a year Sam plays in a fast-pitch softball weekend tournament.  They play all day long and thru the night. We had beautiful weather this weekend--low 90's both days, but very breezy and cool in the shade.  Last year it had rained prior to the tournament and it was completely muddy--needless to say, I remember the kids being covered in mud! The kids and I weren't able to be there on Saturdaydue to a family birthday party. Sam drove to the party, then back to the tournament and took Lia with him. They camped out in the tent and had a blast.
Kye, Sofie and I arrived the next morning just in time for the first game.  Nothing like snow-cones at 9 in the morning.

Kye spent much of his day tagging along with our friend Gavin.

But, when he wasn't with Gavin he was trying out all the softball gear.

and cheering on his favorite player...

tree's, tree's, tree's...

Sofie's language lesson's for the week consisted of several books about tree's.  So we spent a few days doing leaf, bark, and tree branch rubbings, painting leaves, and then making a book to keep it all in.  What a fun project and they even found a way to use glitter to "dress up" their rubbings!

One of our neighbors decided to join us for some leaf painting

Lia painted a grandma and grandpa

Homeschooling...

-Because I want my kids to grow deeper in their relationships with Christ.

-Because I want to spend more time with my kids.

-Because I want my kids to be able to learn at their own pace.

-Because I want to be my kids teacher--of everything--while they are so young and impressionable.

-Because I want my kids to have more time to just be kids.

-Because I want my kids to be provided with a curriculum that consists of Christ's teachings and also fits their learning style.

-Because I want to deepen my relationship with my kids.

-Because God called me to do this a long time ago--and I'm finally obeying!

under my belt...

2 days of school, that is.

We've enjoyed getting started with our new curriculum, the kids love everything I've chosen and have asked to do more both days. Sofie even complained to me about being done with school so early in the day (it was 11:00).  So, I made a trip to the library to pick up some extra stuff for her to research--hope she likes shark's!

Our school room is perfect!!

We love our big table!

Monday afternoon's will be our craft day.  So we started off by making friendship bracelets!  We had the best time!

Sofie was still making them 2 1/2 hours later!

Tuesday afternoon's will be our baking day.  So, cinnamon rolls it was.

We have made these several times before, but we always change it up just a little.

An hour later, they looked like this

Then, we baked them for 15 minutes...

Finally, our finished product and yummy dessert!

I LOVE watching my kids learn!
